Cade is the son of Jeff and Chris van Raaphorst. He is a senior at Desert Vista High School, carries a GPA of 3.63 (4.2 weighted) and a class rank of 186 out of 706 students. Cade is a member of the Tempe All-City Football team for 2014 and was both Desert Vista Football Team Captain and Desert Vista Lacrosse Team Captain. He was named an AIA football scholar-athlete in all four years at Desert Vista. Nationally, Cade was chosen as an Under Armour Football All-American in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Cade, headed to Duke next year on a Lacrosse scholarship, was on the first team All-State Lacrosse teams in 2013 and 2014 and was second-team All-State Lacrosse in 2012. He was also chosen as a US Lacrosse All-American in 2013 and 2014. He was ranked #5 in the nation by Inside Lacrosse in 2013 and #18 in 2014. He was Defensive Lacrosse Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014.
Cade is involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, having served as President, Vice-President and Secretary; Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society and the Desert Vista Lacrosse Club, where he has been President and Vice-President. He has been a lacrosse volunteer for four years, helping to raise money for PCH. He also has participated in Relay for Life, LAX 4 Life and Tempe Empty Bowls.
